As stallion owners, the most rewarding experiences happen each time we open our inbox to glowing reviews and updated photos of the accolades and adventures of so many exquisite Moon Babies. Over the years, not only have we received amazing testimonials and show records, but also articles, stories, kind words from children and even artwork from those who are inspired by Moon. The Raleighs Full Moon “Fan Club” has been in the background for over a decade and this year we decided to bring it to the forefront and have lots of fun things planned for all his fans. Whether you own a Moon Baby or dream of the day you do, we welcome your comments and participation on Facebook in the now “Official” Raleighs Full Moon Fan Club!

“She’s been showing in jumpers. We went to Showpark in Los Angeles last week and she placed in the jumper classes. I adore her so much. She’s such a fantastic horse and progresses every day. We train with Lisa Westin at El Sueno Equestrian. She has great scope and loves her job. Loveeeee her.”

Catherine,

I wanted to send you a special thank you for all that you have done. You are not only a friend and fellow horse enthusiast, you are a mentor. Because of you and your exceptional stallion Moon, I have been able to follow my dreams of owning a stallion, breeding lovely foals, and training athletic horses. Rubicon is almost 2 years old, time goes by so fast, and maturing into a handsome young stallion just like his sire. Rubicon knows he has a lot to live up to if he wants to be anything like Moon.

As a trainer who has personally started horses by Raleighs Full Moon, I can say that they have all been consistent in that they are very trainable, athletic, and beautiful in movement and eye appeal. Moon’s foals are always willing to work and pick up on lessons so fast; I have to keep reminding myself to stay with the program. I can’t wait to start Rubicon, although he already lets me sit on him and lay him down on the ground. Each horse is the same, but unique as well. They each have brilliant color and a kind personality, not a mean bone in their body! I love my two foals by Moon! Rubicon never even acts like a stallion and Moons Dream Image who is a yearling can be handled by my 15 year old clients!

I took Havana Daydreamin, who I had the opportunity to start, down the trail after just three weeks under saddle. I feel that all the babies need to get out of the arena; it’s great for their mind. She went through water, pushed cattle, went up and down hills, was in the back or led the way, all as if she had done it for years. She is excelling in dressage and always wants to please. All of Moon’s foals are exceptional movers in all three gaits. They have a natural self carriage with balance and even tempo. They truly are versatile horses, excelling in many disciplines. They all have a very soft mouth and jaw, which makes training them that much more enjoyable. I hosted the American Warmblood Registry Inspection and had the opportunity to hear first hand from the Inspection judge how nice all the Moon babies were. Something that was no surprise, each Moon baby that was presented was awarded their American Warmblood Registry papers. My foal, Image, by Moon and out of my Seattle Slew mare, was among them. I could talk about how nice these horses are all day long and watch them move too; they are so graceful.

Catherine, you had a vision of what you wanted to produce when you purchased Moon, and I can say from watching Moon grow into a beautiful horse and now a proven stallion, that your dreams have come true. There are very few stallions who are so great, and even fewer who go on to become amazing sires. Catherine, you and Moon have made a lasting beneficial impression in the equine industry. I wish all the horses I had the opportunity to train were comparable to the Moon babies, for they really are exceptional!

“I am looking forward to breeding one of my Hanoverian mares to your stallion. You have been a good stallion owner and very good at promoting your horse and keeping in touch with me. I see you as a model for how to maintain contact with customers. You are very hopeful; not pushy but very informative. I want to thank you a lot and I will look forward to our future contact. Thanks a million.”

“I purchased Done N Style when he was a yearling. He has been under saddle for a year now with Joyce Thomas as his trainer. This year he took a Top Five at Region 5 Sport Horse In-Hand. We are looking forward to a promising first show season under saddle in 2010 and are aiming for qualifications to go to Sport Horse Nationals in Nampa, Idaho. We are very excited about this horse as he has the sweetest disposition and the smoothest gaits you could ever want in a horse. He is our dream horse.”

“I have wanted a Palomino since my childhood horse “Cheese,” but it’s hard to find the right one, with the color, the conformation, AND the brain. I have always loved going on midnight rides and have always had a strong desire to see the world from a horse’s back, that’s why I love endurance. Moonlit Wanderlust was honestly made to order. I was hoping for a boy, with no socks, a small, unique facial marking, and efficient movement and conformation. He is perfect! We already have a growing bond with each other. I also really appreciate the care you put into your horses & the fact that you started Sophia later & in a gentle manner. That is very refreshing in today’s world! Sophia will thank you for that down the road. Sophia is sweet, smart & level-headed. When I am not with my family, there is no other place I’d rather be than at the barn with her. When I was looking for another horse, I knew it would have big shoes to fill, but Sophia fits perfectly with our family. Even at her young age, she is gentle enough for my kids to be around & ride. She is my little buddy who calls out when she hears my voice or my car. We’ve had so many fun days together & I look forward to many years more. I feel very fortunate to have found you & Sophia!

“Promiss gets more beautiful everyday. Sometimes I just watch her and marvel in her beauty and realize how lucky I am to be owned by her. I cannot say enough about Promiss and how much I love her. She is very special and we have a great rapport. I look forward to the future and all that Promiss and I have to look forward to. Promiss promises to make her daddy proud!!”

“I have had so much to be thankful for this year and I owe much of it to you and Moon and his children: Bijou, Dani and Sequins who are all doing well and are healthy and happy in their respective places. As this year is coming to a close, I begin to feel the excitement of the new year’s possibilities. Let’s hope all of us continue to enjoy each other and our mutual love of the one and only Moon.”

“I just wanted to let you know that Pshyann Moon is now almost 16'3 hands. He is absolutely wonderful! He is so great that we don't even warm up before big A rated shows! We walk right in to the covered staging area and get on and trot around! He doesn't shy or spook. He is soo consistent!!! I love Raleighs Full Moon!!”

“I have always admired Moon as a stallion. I find him to be one of the kindest, sweetest tempered and most consistent producing stallions ever. I have always dreamed of owning a Moon baby, plus, having a thing for buckskins didn’t hurt the dream any either. “I have always admired Moon as a stallion. I find him to be one of the kindest, sweetest tempered and most consistent producing stallions ever. I have always dreamed of owning a Moon baby, plus, having a thing for buckskins didn’t hurt the dream any either.

In 2015 I bought my wife an anniversary present that she had always dreamed of owning herself. For our 12th anniversary I bought her a Friesian. We hadn’t had any horses for the past 8 years roughly; between work and life in general it just didn’t seem to work out.

After a while of her newfound love and attention grabber, she thought I needed to get back into horses too. She started asking me questions and taking notes about all of my likes and dislikes and what truly made up my dream horse. Come the end of it she contacted Catherine knowing that I had always dreamed of owning a Moon baby. We have been friends with Catherine almost as long as we have been together and my wife remembered getting an email with photos of this stunning little half Friesian Moon baby about a year earlier. She never told me too much about what she was doing and surprised me with an early father’s day present that just blew me away.

I knew that she had gotten me a gelding by Moon; I just didn’t expect to be swept off my feet so quickly by this amazing little gelding. When he arrived at the facility, he unloaded perfectly with it only being his first trailer ride ever. Once the haulers handed me the lead rope, he just stared at me like, “So you’re my new family!” His eyes were bright and his ears were up and giving me every ounce of attention he had in his body. Within just a few minutes, it felt like I hadn’t been without a horse ever in my life. Rōhnen took to me so fast I’m still in shock to this day. Every day that I go to the barn to see him he comes to greet me with the happiest of expressions and kisses me on the cheek. If he’s in a pasture or turn out he will nicker back to me when I call his name and come running. I can do absolutely anything with this little guy that I could ever want to. He will even leave his food to come hangout with me instead. He’s that proverbial in your pocket kind of horse that is just amazing to be around and we absolutely love him.

I have to say for all the dreams that I have ever wished to come true, only three have ever been what I really wanted or needed in life… they are my wife, my daughter and my buckskin Moon baby and all three of them have given me so much more joy and fulfillment in life than I could have ever imagined possible.

I just want to say thank you so much Catherine, for having such a wonderful stallion that passes on such great qualities to his offspring.”

After having admired the Raleigh’s Full Moon babies for several years, I was finally fortunate enough to acquire one with the hopes of making her my personal riding horse. She has been amazing; a quick learner and a joy to be around. After 90 days of training we are hitting the trails and she acts like she has been doing it forever. Of course, there is also the icing on the cake, a gorgeous faced Palomino and the perfect cross of the Arabian personality and endurance with the strength and substance of the Quarter Horse.

“I need to send you new pictures of my yearling filly by Raleighs Full Moon. She is HUGE!!! She is definitely going to be about 16 hands tall when she matures. She is just a wonderful filly with a great temperament and very smart. When I have to put her back in her stall, all I need to do is call out her barn name and she comes running like a dog to me. I do not even need to halter her to put her up in her stall.”

“I just thought I would send you an email to give you an update on Crater. She is currently in training with Edie Lehman and doing wonderfully! She has come so far in such a short time. Right now I am riding her, and we are working at the walk, trot, and canter. I enjoy her so much and she is such a fast learner. She loves to get out of her stall and be ridden and that makes things so much easier. She is the talk of the barn, everybody loves her. I am planning to do Dressage, Western... Read More

“Well, congratulations are in order! Another excellent entry on Mr. Moon’s resume. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not about the stallion but what he can sire that is truly important. Sire of a Reserve National Champion is wonderful. I think that is the kind of thing that accelerates. More quality mares will be booked and more champion babies will be produced. All that work has really paid off! And isn’t life something? Pretty spectacular.”

“I cannot tell you how wonderful this horse is. Everyone who sees him, loves him. He is like the Golden Retriever of horses and my best friend. He is enormously special.”

“I can’t even begin to tell you how much I adore this horse. When Brighton came into my life, she became a great partner. She has a wonderful mind, and a quirky personality that I love. She is a horse’s horse…loves all horses. I have never known a horse quite like her. I look at Moon’s picture many times a week. Brighton is the love of my life. I am smiling as I write this just thinking about her.

I am writing because as you know, these horses stand out everywhere they go. She has quite a fan club here. I do some dressage with her (that is what I bought her for), and we trail ride as often as we can (we both love that most of all). I learned quite by accident that she is very “cowie”…I wanted to expose her to cows in a sorting event, and I saw immediately that something clicked in her brain, and her instincts kicked in. We now sort and pen cows at least once a week.

She gets along with virtually every horse she has ever come in contact with. One day last week, I let her loose in the indoor arena to roll and play. The barn owner came in and asked if she could put her recently weaned filly in with her. I agreed, and she brought the filly in. Brighton immediately walked over to her, nuzzled her, and the two of them ran together and played for a long time. The baby dropped to roll, and Brighton rolled right next to her. It was the sweetest thing I have ever seen.

I call Brighton “a horse’s horse”. Yet on trails, if the other horses move too far ahead for her to see, she doesn’t seem to care at all. She’s opinionated, but is usually persuaded. And never with force. Once we were in Capitol forest (her first trail ride there about 2 years ago). She did not want to cross a narrow wooden bridge, so I told the other riders to go ahead. I was sure she would cross once they started to walk away. Nope. She just watched them leave, and then turned her attention back to the bridge. So I thought it was a good opportunity to work on bridges with her. I stood on the bridge, jumped up and down (telling her it was safe), and waited. She sniffed and pawed, and eventually crossed. She has never minded bridges since.

Well, that’s probably enough about my mare…. I could write volumes about her. She challenges me, she is my sanctuary, and she makes me smile every single day. I simply can’t imagine life without her.”

“Spirit was born with a grounded personality and knowingness we have not seen in our previous foals. It is obvious from looking at her that the genetics provided physical correctness, athleticism, and an abundance of beauty packaged in a statuesque form. She is so capable, both mentally and physically, to do anything we ask. You know that I have personally been around a lot of Moon’s foals, and as much as I would like to think of Spirit as unique and gifted, it is my experience that all of her qualities are so typical of the foals he is producing.... “Everybody notices this baby. Not only his color but his conformation is very eye catching. What really gets them is his ATTITUDE! He is the sweetest, most loving, willing baby. He goes anywhere. He picks everything up quickly and then just wants to please! Just last month I taught him to trailer load, bathe, clip, wear a bareback pad, and more. And when I say I taught him, there was nothing to it. He’s born broke to everything I can show him! Catherine was so easy to work with and she was right on about all the wonderful qualities that... Catherine was so easy to work with and she was right on about all the wonderful qualities that Raleigh would pass on. This baby has them ALL. I can’t wait to ride him! I am so, so grateful for this wonderful horse! Mickey is a treasure who makes every day a pleasure! Thank you again, Catherine!

“Mickey” was born of a super sweet QH mare. I was looking for a stallion with similar qualities when I found Raleighs Full Moon – gorgeous and sweet! I got the baby of my dreams. A Palomino colt (now gelded) that is even sweeter than his mother. Everyone compliments him and is amazed that he’s 15 months old with the attitude that he has. He goes anywhere, following so nicely. When I decided to throw a saddle pad and then a bareback pad on him, he didn’t bat an eye, and then when I walked him around, he was so proud! We trailer all over the place and hand walk along trails, you’d think he was 10 years old. What a sweet, willing, handsome boy! He is also a total love bug and loves people. He’s just fun to be around. I’m so proud of him!”

“Just wanted to say thanks again for this fabulous horse! He went to a clinic, we’re just breaking him now. He has maybe 10 rides. He was great! The other horses didn’t bother him and he did really well. He’s taking to working life very well, not really much fuss from him.

I LOVE the way he MOVES!! I’m thinking of making him a dressage horse. Such a fabulous trot, esp for a baby, you’d think he was a pro! Just natural, beautiful movement!”

“I remembered something Jennette told me about Dani. She said the new owner and trainer wanted to know when he was turning 4. This question was asked after their first ride. Jennette told them he was going to be 3. They were amazed at how well he was trained and how calm and patient he was in a new place, with two new riders. Needless to say he was purchased that very day. The new owner had put up with a very difficult mare for many years and was looking for an older broke dressage/trail horse. I am pleased to... I bet this is another Moon baby that has found his forever home. Good breeding=Good horses”.

“AQHA registered Pearl is absolutely gorgeous. I did not blanket her this year and she is dappled and light in color. I am seriously considering haltering her next year in some AQHA shows as she certainly has the conformation and muscling for it. Then I will find out her true color since she would be blanketed. I suspect she will stay light. I saddled her for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We start our horses later than most. It just works better for us since we are not in any hurry with the youngsters and when we start riding them at 3 they seem more physically and mentally mature. Anyway, we do saddle them a few times and might get on them as long 2 year olds but don’t really ride them. Pearl acted like she had been doing it all her life. I was so absolutely proud of her. I bridled her and she hardly even mouthed the bit. We then went for a long walk around our place (me leading her) and then she stood tied for quite awhile. Perfecto! Couldn’t have asked her to do anything better. I am excited about riding her next year. She has a huge hip, long thin neck, and a beautiful head. The rest in between is also just right. Her legs are perfectly straight. Pearl is quite a nice package.”

“This filly is gorgeous! They all have great expression and those wonderful gaits. I was laughing at my mare doing patterns and changing leads around the cones like she had been doing it for years, front and back changes, they are all so athletic. It is funny I have been watching a lot of reining baby videos and they are all cute but nothing compares to the Arab crosses!!! You have a wonderful stud and obviously have well bred athletic mares you are breeding too.”
